Arabian Sahara Dance Company

The Arabian Sahara Dance Company was formed by Manneh to develop more interest in the Middle Eastern
dance culture and to present Middle Eastern dancing to the North and South American people in its natural and
authentic form.

 

Manneh believes that Arabic Dancing is the most sublime expression of life. In fact, he feels it extends
further than this  "It is the loftiest, most moving and the most beautiful of the fine arts because it is no
mere translation or abstraction of life, It 1s life itself" said Manneh. "Belly dancing is one of the most ancient
arts in the history of life. It is the first dance ever performed by a woman which was, and still is, used as a
means of expressing one's feelings and communicatng with others."

 

Although this style of dancing may be sensual, it is never meant to be sexy, in fact it is grounded in three
areas, religious ceremony, dramanc expresion of emotion and passion, and expression of life in woman.
Khalil Gibran, the famous Lebanese philosopher said, " The philosopher's soul dwells in his head. The poet's
soul is in his heart, the singer's soul lingers in his throat. But the soul of the dancer abides in all her body"
